Fantastic night at Fuzz. This was the last Fuzz from the legendary club night at Sheffield Union which has been running for ten years.
I haven’t framed an image like this in a long time. I generally favour much wider crops, but there’s something I like about this one.

I forgot my plugs for this one, bad mistake! Took about two days for my ears to stop ringing.

White Lies now how to light a stage, when you get a shot correct it’s great but some the lights are so incredibly powerful it can make life a bit difficult.

Exit Calm are on their way out on tour with the Sunshine Underground. The debut album is in for mixing, if you ask me these guys could be big, all they need is for the media to get behind the properly.
The majority of the images were done with my 10mm fisheye as the band have a bit of a soft spot for it.

I’ve been toying with this idea now for a few months but have not really had a suitable band for it. Cats for Peru seemed perfect really especially as they have female members, they did make quite an effort.
Setup/Strobist Info
This image is made of 2 images. The original Image was of the band, camera mounted on a little gorilla type tripod on the table and fired on a timer. Sb-800 on a light stand – high right – 1/8 though a 32” shoot through umbrella. SB-600 bare left 1/16 on a light stand. The second image I left the camera on the tripod and placed the SB-800 bare behind me in the dining room, I struck the pose to cast the shadow on the wall, this was fired at 1/8th. I merged the 2 together in Photoshop using multiple layers. Needed quite a lot of post to remove shadows, a door, the converging of the roof, a door, a light switch! Also stretched the table cloth as it did not quite fit the table!
So at last I get in band shoot, even if I am trying to knife them all

I was really impressed by these guys, not only for the fact that I thought their set was great but by the general interaction they have between each other as a band.
This lot are not only a band who love to make music, but a band who genuinley love to make music together.
Without a doubt one to watch.

This was quite mad. No barrier at Fuzz so it’s get down the front and get down and dirty. There was a bit of a crush on, bleeuuuughhh.
Was an amazing night though. I never realised just what a following they have and can these guys play live!

I’ll be really interested to see how tthey get on. I think give them a few months and they’ll be pretty tight for festival season.

These guys took some hunting down, they are in the middle of a large tour and managed to give me a couple of hours of their time. It was pretty cold out there and the light was failing but I have been meaning to get a band out into the glorious countryside where I live.
If you can get out to Exit Calm you really should. They make a pretty impressive noise, their guitarist in particular is pretty impressive.

I first caught Exit calm well over a year ago supporting the Enemy, since then they have supported many large acts including GlasVegas and now they are out and about on a large headlining tour of their own.
I’ll be honest I was totally blown away, layers of sound - reminded me very much of the early verve material. You can’t help watching them and thinking how much potential these guys really have, it will be really interesting to hear the forthcoming album.
With any luck I will be doing a feature shoot with them for sandman in the next few weeks.

La Folie had noticed these danger signs so off we went to shoot them, had a bit of fun punting them over walls.
Weekend at Bukowskis arrived suited and booted, so it would be easy to differentiate between the two bands. I noticed some similar signs on y way so brought the guys over to ensure that a similar theme ran between the two bands.
