Back in early 2007 I shot The Twang. It was early days for the band, they hadn’t released a single and were on the first date of their first headlining tour. I was lucky enough to spend the evening with the guys and their manager, it was a bit messy and the guys were just fantastic.

I’ve kept in touch with their manager who has sorted me out for passes for other bands such as Editors. Their manager Paul takes a genuine interest in what you are up to and if he says you are on the list then you are on the list which can be quite unusual in this game.

The Twang played a one off gig last night at the Sheffield Academy 2 showcasing some new material from their forthcoming album. The lights that they brought were just amazing and I found myself for once in fisheye heaven (very rarely get to use that bad boy).

Great gig, got covered in beer and forgot my plugs. Ears ringing today, really should teach what I preach and have them with my every time.

I’ve been following these guys for about a year so I was very interested in how it would go.

They’ve put a lot of work into this set. The stage looked great and was decked out like a front room with chairs, clocks, desks etc. It was quite a long set for a band who havent realeased an album as yet.

Things got a bit leary towards the end, I expected things to be a bit more laid back, but it seems students and cheap beer make for a rowdy crowd.

Sheffield USUS fuzz club surprised me, the lights were some of the best I’ve come across.

After the dissapointment of my images from Glasvegas (Glasvegas are tops but their light aren’t for photographers) I was suprised with my Brut Chorus images.

I’m hoping to catch these guys as I really enjoyed them. By far the best support I’ve seen in a long while. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of this lot this year.

Interesting night at The Faversham tonight with glasvegas. The highlight of the evening for me was the reviewer who had come with me Hannah had her notes stolen by Glasvegas’s frontman and then read to the audience. He picked up on “unpretentious” and all dressed in black!

Glasvegas are getting a lot of press at the mo and rightly so. I have to say I really enjoyed them, they have a very distinctive sound that marks them above the normal libertines tributes you get to hear over and over. I think if you are serious about music, if you like your spitritualised, jesus and mary chains or even flaming lips then you would be mad to miss them.

This is the rear sleeve of the courteeners single Acrylic. The drummer shot is mine and was taken quite a while ago when the courteeners supported The Harrisons and Gas Club at the Lucorum at the start of 2007.
